Come Bet Tips โ The Details Most Players Miss
Come bets are underused at most craps tables. When players do use them, they often skip the mechanics that make them powerful. These tips cover what separates a productive come bet setup from one that just adds confusion and exposure.
Always Take Odds on the Come Bet
Once your come bet travels to a point number, put odds behind it immediately. The come bet without odds sits at 1.41% edge. With odds it drops dramatically. The dealer will hold your odds bet separately โ tell them "odds" when you place the chips. This is the single most important come bet habit.
Use Place Bet Payouts to Fund the Odds
If you have place bets working when you place a come bet, and the come bet travels to one of your place numbers, collect the place bet payout and use it as odds on the come bet. Then pull the place bet stake down โ you get that chip back. The payout funded the odds for free, and the place bet stake returns to your rail. This is the most efficient way to build a come bet position.
Know That Come Bets Are Contracts
Like the pass line, a come bet is a contract once a come point is established. It stays until the come point rolls or a 7 appears. You cannot take it down. Size them at table minimum precisely because of this โ you will have multiple contracts working simultaneously during any active come bet session.
A 7 on the Come-Out Is Different
If a 7 rolls on the come-out (for the main pass line bet), it wins the pass line โ but it also wipes all active come bets. If you have odds on those come bets and they are "off" (the default during come-outs at many tables), the odds are returned. Always clarify with the dealer whether your come bet odds are on or off during come-out rolls. Bluffin With Aces covers come bet mechanics in detail on YouTube.
