Pass Line Tips โ€” Reading the Table Before You Bet

Before placing a single chip on the pass line, there are three things worth knowing about the table you are sitting at. Most players skip this and it costs them every session.

Check the Odds Multiple

Ask the dealer: "What odds do you take?" The answer determines your effective house edge on every pass line point. 2x gives you 0.61% combined. 3x-4x-5x gives you 0.37%. 10x gets you under 0.2%. This question takes five seconds and changes every calculation you make about bet sizing for the session.

Check the Table Minimum

Table minimum sets your flat bet floor. At a 3x-4x-5x table, you need 5ร— your flat bet available for odds on a point of 6 or 8. A $10 minimum means $50 in odds coverage. A $15 minimum means $75. Make sure your buy-in supports at least 10-15 pass line cycles with full odds before you sit.

Know That the Pass Line Is a Contract

Once a point sets, your flat bet does not come down. It resolves on the point or on a 7-out, nothing else. This is not a drawback โ€” it is the structure of the game. Plan for it. Do not bet an amount on the come-out that you are not prepared to have working until resolution.

These are not advanced tips. They are the basics that most players bypass because they are in a hurry to get into the action. Bluffin With Aces covers the slow version of this game on YouTube โ€” real sessions where the setup matters as much as the roll.
